LOXAM, the responsible rental company, becomes the world’s first
equipment rental firm to attain level 3 in the ISO 26000 standarde

Following an in-depth audit conducted in December 2015 among customers, suppliers, staff members and other stakeholders by SGS, the world’s leading inspection and certification body, LOXAM’s corporate social and environmental responsibility policy has been rewarded in France with a performance rating of level 3 (on a scale of 5) in the standard ISO 26000:2010. This performance is qualified as “mature” on the assessment grid listing the 400 examined criteria.

Gérard Déprez, Chairman of LOXAM, comments: “We were honoured to receive this evaluation which is a tribute to our acknowledged practices in the fields of social, environmental and ethical responsibility. The evidence survey has indicated that we still have progress to make, in particular in our communication with our clients and other stakeholders. Once again, LOXAM has confirmed that it is a benchmark in its sector of activity, a vector of its development and success in Europe.”

LOXAM, an inborn CSR approach for nearly 50 years

Among the highlights of this distinction, LOXAM excelled by fulfilling the principles of “transparency”, primarily by issuing the report “Responsible Rental”. Also noteworthy is the principle of respect for stakeholder interests, as illustrated by the findings of a November 2015 survey of more than 5,000 people.

For LOXAM, ISO 26000, whose vocation is to help organisations contribute towards sustainable development, comes as an addition to the recent renewal of quality, environment and safety certifications ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and MASE certificates. This extra appraisal consolidates the Group’s societal commitments and shines a spotlight on the policy of corporate responsibility which it has been conducting for close to 50 years.

By its very nature, LOXAM’s core business reflects the principles of CSR. The sharing of equipment between several users through its rental contributes to better-controlled consumption by offering an alternative to ownership. Preventing wastage and thereby optimising products’ life cycles, LOXAM actively contributes to the development of a circular economy, offering substantial benefits. The Group has gone over and beyond this since its very beginnings by valuing the business-specific topics of safety and the environment, customer satisfaction and business ethics, as well as working conditions and employee relations. This performance was rated “mature” by SGS.

As the first rental firm in the world to receive level 3 in ISO 26000, LOXAM will continue to pursue its virtuous societal, social and environmental practices and propagate them among the 600 Group branches across 13 countries.

LOXAM is also member of the Global Compact, a programme launched in 2000 under the auspices of the United Nations. By signing this Compact, LOXAM pledged to adopt, support and apply the 10 fundamental principles relating to the fields of human rights, employment and environmental standards and anticorruption. This commitment is reasserted each year with the Group’s report on the initiatives it has undertaken.
